Outwood Academy Danum has secured another year of outstanding results with 67% of students achieving grade 4 or above and 47% of students achieving grade 5 or above in both English and maths.
Student progress is excellent and on average students have achieved nearly half a grade more than expected given their starting points in every GCSE!
This is the second year in which the academy has been part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust and over this period the percentage of students who have achieved grade 4 or above in maths and English has increased by 16%.
Mrs Gaunt, Principal, said “I am overwhelmed by the commitment shown by students, staff and governors and am extremely proud of the hard work all have put into achieving these fantastic results.
Everything we do is to give students the very best life chances and I am thrilled that students will now be able to access apprenticeships and post 16 courses of their choosing.
I am especially proud that 3.5% of grades achieved are at the extremely prestigious GCSE grade 9. This grade is given to less than 1% of qualifications nationally. And I am also delighted that so many students have surpassed the ambitious targets we set for them. Well done!”.
Mrs Blundell, associate executive principal for the academy also commented “Mrs Gaunt and her staff have worked incredibly hard with students to secure these great results and thanks must go to them, to the students, their parents and carers, and governors - it has proved to be a fabulous team effort.”
The following students achieved grade 8 and 9’s across the majority of their subjects; Charmithaa Balendran, Alexandria Bird, Gillian Clarke, Sophie Francis, Phoebe Iwanyckyj, Jacub Kostrzewa, Georgia Morton, Megan Powell, Prerana Thapa, Maria-Sonia Trandafir, Lucy Trusler.
