Q. When is the first day for Year 7 new starters?

A. The first day of term for Year 7 is Wednesday 4th September 2019

Q. What are the times of the academy day for Year 7 students?

A. All students should be in school at 8:15am prompt, ready for lessons which start at 8.25 am

Period 1: 8.25am – 9.25am
Period 2: 9.25am – 10:25am

Break / Vertical Mentor Group – 10:25am – 11:00am

Period 3: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Period 4: 12:00pm – 12:30pm

Lunch: 12:30pm – 1:00pm (for year 7 only)
Period 4 continues: 1:00pm – 1:30pm
Period 5: 1:30pm – 2:30pm

Enrichment: 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Q. What are the lunchtime arrangements for Year 7?

A. Year 7 students have their lunch as a year group, between 12:30pm and 1:00pm. This ensures there is minimal queuing time and students can socialise with their friends. A wide selection of cooked meals, sandwiches, pasta dishes, salads and pizza are available to our students.

The catering service provided by the academy operates a “Pay Online” system, parents can place dinner money onto student accounts from home. We will provide log-on details for parents in due course.
Students are welcome to bring a packed lunch although we do ask that packed lunches are healthy and should bring water or juice, rather than sugary / fizzy drinks in to the academy.

Q. How is the school uniform organised?

A. We will provide a full uniform bundle for all Year 7 students. Trutex (uniform supplier) will attend transition days within the academy to measure Year 6 students. Uniform packs will be delivered to Outwood Academy Danum for parents to collect, and a letter outlining arrangements for this will be sent to parents. There will be a further two uniform ordering/collection days at Outwood Academy Danum later on in the year dates will be advertised on the academy website.

The uniform bundle consists of:
• 2 shirts
• 1 pair of trousers or skirt
• 1 blazer
• 1 tie

PE Kit
• 1 pair of socks
• 1 pair of shorts
• 1 polo shirt
• 1 games jersey

Q. Jewellery, hair and makeup – are there any dos and don’ts?

A. No jewellery is allowed, except a wrist watch and a Medic Alert necklace or bracelet. In addition body-piercings, including ear, nose and belly button, are not allowed.
Nail polish and false nails are not permitted
Any make-up worn by older students should be very discreet. Students are asked to remove make-up if it is not discreet, which will be at the discretion of the Principal.
Hairstyles should be sensible and colours should be natural. Hair accessories should be discreet and black or purple in colour. Where religious headscarves are worn these should be black and without a pattern.
