Katharine Beckett began her career a teacher of English in 1999. In 2004, she was promoted to Lead Teacher of KS4 and in 2009 became Head of English. In 2012 she joined OGAT as Head of English at Outwood Academy Brumby. In 2016 she was promoted to Associate Director of English, a post which she carried out part-time whilst continuing with her post at Outwood Academy Brumby. In September 2017, she became a full time Associate Director of English. She works as part of a strong and effective group of English directors and is deployed to different academies across our trust. A key part of her role is to support and work alongside English departments. English is a key core subject and it is crucial that students achieve well to ensure they have the very best life chances. Katharine is passionate about ensuring that the life chances of our students are improved, regardless of their starting point. She believes that success in English can change the lives and aspirations of our students. Her role, working alongside highly skilled English teachers, is to ensure that our students are fully supported in order to help them achieve their full potential.
