I have an unshakable belief that children are entitled to outstanding education, irrespective of their background, disability, starting point or postcode. It was this that motivated me to teach after a successful career as a senior manager in industry.
I was a Lead practitioner for the SSAT for three years, 2007-2009, leading training courses for experienced teachers at SSAT National Conferences and working with the University of York on a yearly basis with trainee teachers, whilst teaching science at Ripon College, now Outwood Academy Ripon. During this time I also undertook a MA in Educational Leadership on a part time basis with Warwick University.
I was an Assistant Principal at Outwood Academy Ripon for three years and was part of the transformation of the academy which gained a judgement of ‘outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted in 2016.
From September 2014, I moved in the role of Vice Principal to Carlton Community College, now Outwood Academy Carlton, a school in special measures for 5 years. Outwood Academy Carlton achieved a ‘good’ grading by Ofsted in all categories after one year.
In September 2016, I moved to Outwood Academy Danum as Associate Principal becoming Principal in December 2016.
