After travelling the world for a year I decided to start my career in teaching at Swanwick Hall School in Derbyshire as teacher of history. After a couple of years I was promoted to Head of History and Citizenship and I soon realised that I loved leading a group of teachers as it provided a greater opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of students. In 2005 I decided to broaden my experiences and I moved to Leeds and led the history department at Brigshaw School. Teaching and learning soon became my passion and I have taken on a number of roles with Education Leeds to improve the quality of teaching and learning across the city. I truly believe that as teachers we have a duty to make the most of every minute of learning in and out of the classroom to help students develop academically, to improve their cultural capital and to help them be philosophical about the world in which we live. As Assistant Principal at Outwood Academy Danum working within Deep learning and Deep support I am working and helping to lead a school that is determined to improve the life chances of every single student.
